Manjung: Police have arrested four individuals, including a couple, and seized 44 kilogrammes of drugs worth RM4.6 million in four separate raids in the Manjung district. Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin reported the arrests, which included a jobless couple, aged 28 and 24, at a house in Simpang Tiga, Sitiawan.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the arrests took place at about 7.30 pm on Monday, where police found 15.6kg of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) in the house and on a motorcycle parked outside. Another arrest occurred at an apartment in Taman Sejati, Sitiawan at 8.55 pm the same day, involving a 50-year-old man and the seizure of 127 grammes of ketamine and Erimin 5.
The suspects led police to a house used as a drug storage, where 11.4kg of MDMA and 299 grammes of ketamine were found, along with RM970 cash, at about 7.19 am on Tuesday. All three suspects tested positive for Erimin 5 and had prior records related to crime and drugs. The syndicate is believed to have been active since March, with the seized drugs potentially serving 90,516 addicts.
The suspects have been remanded for a week until May 12 to assist in investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Additionally, a 29-year-old delivery man was arrested at a hotel in Jalan Mohamad, near Sitiawan, at about 5 am on Monday. He led police to a car containing 16 compressed blocks of suspected cannabis weighing 16.6 kg, worth RM51,500, and RM500 in cash. The suspect tested positive for cannabis and also has prior criminal and drug-related records, and has been remanded until May 11.
