Cops Nab Man In Connection With Kluang Shooting Incident

Kluang: Police have arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of being involved in randomly firing several shots in front of a house in Kampung Bukit Batu Machap, Simpang Renggam, near here, yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kluang District police chief ACP Bahrin Mohd Noh stated that the man was apprehended at Pusat Setia Perdagangan Simpang Renggam at 7 pm yesterday. Preliminary investigations revealed that the shooting occurred at 12.17 pm, with the suspect firing several shots.

The incident took place when the victim, who was at home, noticed a maroon-coloured Perodua Bezza car entering her compound. As she stood at the front door, three men approached her. One of the suspects then drew a pistol from his waist and aimed it at the victim and her husband before discharging four shots. The suspects fled the scene but fired two additional shots before leaving. Fortunately, the couple was unharmed.

Bahrin mentioned that the case is being investigated under Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 and Section 307 of the Penal Code. He further noted that a remand application will be submitted at the Batu Pahat Magistrate’s Court today.
