Cops Increase Enforcement On SPDH To Curb Illegal Racing.

PORT DICKSON: Police have intensified monitoring and enforcement along the Seremban-Port Dickson Highway (SPDH) to check illegal racing and other traffic violations, particularly during weekends. Port Dickson police chief Supt Maslan Udin said that through integrated operations, police have been arresting individuals involved in such activities on SPDH almost weekly.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Maslan noted that the highway’s long and straight configuration attracts dangerous activities, including illegal racing. Enforcement operations have been increased around the area to address this issue. From arrests and recorded conversations, it has been found that most illegal racers are outsiders who come to Port Dickson for sightseeing and engage in unplanned racing.

The influx of vehicles into the district rises to over 60,000 every weekend or public holiday. Maslan highlighted that 48 illegal racing cases were detected along SPDH in the first 10 months of this year, compared to 38 cases in the same period
last year. Additionally, the number of accidents on the highway has increased by one case, reaching a total of 165 cases as of October this year.

He urged the public to adhere to traffic regulations, practice defensive driving, and avoid actions that could pose risks to other road users. The crime index in this tourism district has also seen an increase from January to October, with 201 cases compared to 187 cases in the same period last year.
