Cops Await Toxicology Results in Suspected Drug-Related Concert Deaths

BANDAR SUNWAY: Police are awaiting toxicology results to confirm suspicions that drugs were involved in the deaths of four individuals following a New Year’s Eve concert in Bandar Sunway. All victims reportedly exhibited similar symptoms, prompting a deeper investigation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan stated that six police reports have been filed by the University Malaya Medical Centre and Kuala Lumpur Hospital. The reports confirm that the hospitals treated seven patients who all displayed identical symptoms. Of those, four succumbed to their conditions, two remain in the intensive care unit, and one has been discharged.

Initial investigations have shown that the victims attended the concert separately, accompanied by friends or family members. In response, police have opened four sudden death reports (SDR) to ascertain whether any criminal activity or poisoning might have contributed to the fatalities.

To advance the investigation, six witnesses have been interviewed so far, with further inquiries planned involving the concert organizers and the victims’ acquaintances. Datuk Hussein Omar Khan urged the public to assist the investigation by providing any relevant information to the Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters at 03-78627222 or to nearby police stations.

Earlier reports identified the deceased as two men and two women, aged between 20 and 40. Police confirmed that preliminary examinations found no external injuries on the victims, leaving the cause of death uncertain pending toxicology results.
