Penang: A police officer was seriously injured after accidentally shooting himself at the Penang Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) here today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Penang police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad confirmed the incident when contacted. The 58-year-old corporal was taken to Penang Hospital, and a detailed investigation is underway.

“There is such a case, and it is still in the early stages of investigation. A statement will be issued soon,” said Datuk Hamzah Ahmad tonight.
