KUALA LUMPUR: Cooperation between Malaysian and Turkish printing companies boosts bilateral relations and also strengthens the sharing of expertise and technology, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. He made these remarks after witnessing the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between a premier printing solutions provider in Malaysia, Ultimate Print Sdn Bhd, and the Turkish State Mint, Darphane.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the collaboration aims to harness and integrate the latest technology from Turkiye into Malaysia, fostering a step towards the country’s digital transformation. This collaboration is particularly significant given the close relationship between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey.
Ultimate Print’s chief executive officer Azizi Fickry emphasized that a key focus area of the partnership is exploring potential in security printing. This includes the production of high-security documents like banknot
es, tax stamps, e-visas, national IDs, and passports. Azizi highlighted that Ultimate Print has years of experience in security document printing for government entities such as the Royal Malaysia Police, the Inland Revenue Board, and the Road Transport Department.
On the investment front, Azizi mentioned that the cost of setting up a printing plant would vary based on the security features chosen by the government, with an estimated investment range between RM60 million and RM80 million. He remarked that the partnership signifies the merging of two industry leaders, strengthening the nations in shared vision and purpose.
Azizi further noted that Darphane’s choice of Malaysia as a base for its Asian market expansion underscores the country’s appeal as a stable and forward-thinking hub of opportunity. Both parties are optimistic about the potential of the security printing sector and aim to set new standards in quality, efficiency, and technological advancement. By combining Darphane’s expertise with Ultimat
e Print’s regional knowledge, they plan to establish a strong presence throughout Asia.
