Constructive Criticism of Lembaga Tabung Haji Must Be Followed by Responsible Action, Says DPM Zahid

Kuala lumpur: Every constructive criticism of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) should be followed by responsible action, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said. He emphasized that this approach is necessary to maintain the strength and trust in the major Islamic institution, preventing it from being embroiled in prolonged controversies.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as the Rural and Regional Development Minister, highlighted that a platform had been provided for Members of Parliament to debate, clarify, and address all pertinent issues comprehensively during the special Dewan Rakyat sitting on the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on TH. He expressed hope that moving forward, individuals would refrain from making excessive allegations or creating unfounded perceptions.

In a Facebook post, Ahmad Zahid conveyed his prayers for all parties to be endowed with wisdom and sincerity in addressing the issue for the benefit of the 'ummah' and the country. The special Dewan Rakyat sitting was prompted by the government's decision to release the RCI report on TH to the public on July 29. This decision enabled MPs to scrutinize and discuss the report's findings and recommendations.

The RCI report unveiled several weaknesses in the management and operations of TH between 2014 and 2020. It proposed 25 recommendations for improvements, 75 per cent of which had been implemented by TH as of July 30.
