Company Director and Factory Worker Charged with Multiple Offences in Johor

Johor:A company director and a plastic factory worker were charged in separate courts with various offences, including attempted murder, lorry theft, dangerous driving, obstructing a public servant, and drug possession, allegedly committed on September 30.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chai Min Quan, 37, and Low Boon Lai, 39, pleaded not guilty to the charges before Sessions Court Judge N. Kanageswari, Magistrates A. Shaarmini, Nur Fatin Mohamad Farid, and Atifah Hazimah Wahab.

In Magistrate Shaarmini's court, Chai and Low were jointly charged with stealing a lorry from a local man at the BHP Plentong petrol station parking area at Jalan Mutiara 4, Taman Perindustrian Plentong, at 7:40 a.m. The charge under Section 379A of the Penal Code carries a maximum imprisonment of seven years and a fine. Both accused were granted bail of RM7,000 each, with the case set for mention on October 23.

In the Sessions Court, Chai faced an attempted murder charge under Section 307 of the Penal Code for allegedly ramming into Noorulamin Soriani with a Mitsubishi Triton at Jalan Bayu 7, Bandar Seri Alam, Masai, at 8 a.m. He was granted bail of RM10,000 with one surety, must report to a police station monthly, surrender his passport, and avoid harassing the victim or witnesses. This case was set for mention on November 18.

Meanwhile, Low faced a reckless driving charge under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving against the traffic flow and making a dangerous U-turn in a lorry at Jalan Mawar Biru, Pasir Gudang, at 10:20 a.m. Magistrate Nur Fatin granted him bail of RM5,000 with one surety, setting November 5 for mention and document submission.

Additionally, Low was charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing Corporal Muhammad Nazmi Ihsan Abdullah at the Pasir Putih Police Station jurisdiction at 8:25 a.m. Magistrate Atifah Hazimah granted him bail of RM3,500 with one surety, with mention set for October 23.

Low also faced a charge under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possessing 0.7 grammes of methamphetamine at Jalan Mawar Biru, Pasir Gudang Industrial Area, at 10:20 a.m. Magistrate Atifah granted him bail of RM3,000 with one surety, with mention set for December 7 pending the chemistry report.
