Labuan: The RM9 million Communications Ministry Complex, a crucial hub for federal communication agencies, was visited by Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah in his inaugural official inspection of the facility.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abdul Halim received a briefing on the complex's current state, with a focus on its air-conditioning system, which is in need of repair or replacement to maintain a suitable working environment for the staff. Additionally, discussions highlighted the necessity for significant repairs at the RTM staff quarters adjacent to the complex and proposed enhancements to RTM Labuan's facilities.

Completed in 2019, the complex serves as the headquarters for the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) Labuan, the Information Department (JaPen), and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). During his visit, Abdul Halim was informed about the establishment, staffing, and responsibilities of Bernama, RTM Labuan, and JaPen.

The briefing provided Abdul Halim with insights into the operations of these agencies in Labuan, detailing their roles in disseminating information, news, and broadcasting content to the public. Accompanying him were senior officials, including the ministry's senior division secretary (management), Datuk Aminurrahim Mohamed, Information Department deputy director-general (digital content) Wan Saidatul Shafina Mohd Amin, and RTM facility development division director Roziyati Rosli.

The visit aimed to evaluate the complex's overall condition and facility requirements, identifying areas needing attention to ensure the continued effective operation of the agencies. This visit was Abdul Halim's first to the Communications Ministry Complex in Labuan since his appointment as secretary-general in November last year.
