Commotion at Bersatu Assembly Over Calls for President to Step Down

Kuala lumpur: The 8th Bersatu Annual General Assembly turned chaotic today when several groups staged a provocation, demanding its president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, to step down. The incident unfolded during the presidential policy speech, where Muhyiddin addressed attempts to undermine his leadership through a signature collection campaign.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Muhyiddin acknowledged the rumors during his speech, highlighting that any such actions contradict the party’s constitution. He stated, “I hear some people are collecting signatures to bring down the president. This is an action that contravenes the party’s constitution. If the president can be brought down through the collection of signatures, then everyone on this stage can also be toppled the same way.” He further warned that division chiefs, Armada chiefs, Srikandi chiefs, Srikandi Muda chiefs, associate chiefs, and all division committee members could face similar challenges.

The atmosphere at the assembly became tense when his remarks were met with shouts of “not true” from a group of delegates, who appeared to reject his claim. The situation escalated as chants of “step down, Tan Sri” erupted, causing a commotion among delegates as others attempted to restore order.

Meanwhile, at a subsequent press conference, Muhyiddin expressed that he was unaware of the impending outburst and assured that the security team would review the incident for further action.
