Kuala lumpur: Civil servants must remain professional and avoid being influenced by politics when delivering services to the public, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said. He emphasized the need for civil servants to be aware of current political developments without being drawn into partisan politics, ensuring that the government administration continues to function in the people's interest. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid stressed that while politics may shape the government's mandate, the public service must always prioritize protecting the people's interests. He made these remarks during the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development's monthly gathering, highlighting the importance of maintaining impartiality when performing their responsibilities. Ahmad Zahid further elaborated that civil servants must be politically sensitive but should never become politicized. He warned that government affairs cannot be put on hold simply due to rising political tensions. Emphasiz ing the critical role of public service, he stated that it must be preserved regardless of the prevailing political climate. He clarified that the concept of civil service must remain clear, with civil servants continuing to play a central role in the country's administration. Ahmad Zahid assured that he would defend civil servants who perform their duties professionally and in accordance with the law, reaffirming their responsibility to ensure government projects and services reach the people effectively.
