KUALA LUMPUR: Affin Bank Bhd, Malayan Banking Bhd and CIMB Group Holdings Bhd have announced flood relief assistance programmes to assist individuals and enterprises affected by the floods.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, CIMB stated that individual, small and medium enterprises (SME), and micro-SME customers impacted by the floods can apply for a six-month payment relief on loan and financing products through the ‘CIMB Flood Relief Assistance Plan’. This plan aims to alleviate the financial burden on those affected. Additionally, CIMB will waive late charges and fees for these customers. SME customers who need extra cashflow assistance on top of the payment relief can apply for a Disaster Relief Facility of up to RM700,000 at a preferential financing rate.
CIMB also shared that its corporate social responsibility arm, CIMB Foundation, along with CIMB Islamic, has committed RM2.5 million to provide community assistance for flood victims and recovery support post-floods. The foundation will work with non-
governmental organisations to distribute these funds for on-ground flood relief efforts and recovery support.
Meanwhile, Maybank has also initiated its flood relief assistance program to ease the financial burden of its customers. The programme includes deferment of financing/loan repayment, a reduction in monthly instalments, or an extension of repayment tenure. Furthermore, Maybank offers a waiver of fees and charges for selected services, such as replacing debit cards, ATM cards, or cheque books lost or damaged during the floods. Maybank Group’s insurance arm, Etiqa, has implemented an expedited claim process for its insurance policyholders and takaful certificate holders, requiring no forms or supporting documents.
Affin Bank has launched its Affin Natural Disaster Relief Programme (NDRP) to support its flood-affected customers. President and Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah highlighted the devastating impact of the floods on affected areas and communities. He stated that Affin is
offering financial relief on various loans and financing products through the NDRP to help lessen the financial burden of their customers during this challenging time. Affin remains committed to providing timely assistance to the communities it serves.
