Cikgu Din’s Cancer-Stricken Wife Succumbs To Disease.

KOTA BHARU: A cancer-stricken wife to a teacher whose plight went viral on social media in October passed away at 9 pm yesterday. Mohammad Izzuddin Izhar, 34, or Cikgu Din, posted the news on his WhatsApp status.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Cikgu Din shared a heartfelt message with his contacts, expressing his grief and requesting forgiveness for any wrongdoings his wife, Nur Atiqah My Yusoff, 30, may have committed. He also asked to be informed of any outstanding debts she might have had. Nur Atiqah, who had been battling stage four cartilage cancer, passed away at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Bharu.

The couple’s story gained attention when a Facebook user, Harima Abd Rahman, highlighted Cikgu Din’s emotional struggles and his attempts to transfer closer to his ailing wife in Peninsular Malaysia. At the time, Cikgu Din was stationed in Sarawak and made fortnightly trips to Kota Bharu to be with Nur Atiqah. His transfer application was initially denied due to a requirement in the EgTukar
system, which mandates three years of service before a transfer can be requested. This situation reportedly contributed to Cikgu Din’s emotional distress.

The viral post eventually reached Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, who intervened and arranged for Cikgu Din to receive a temporary placement at a school near his wife. Following Nur Atiqah’s passing, Fadhlina expressed her condolences publicly, mentioning the sad news in a Facebook post and acknowledging Cikgu Din’s dedication as a teacher from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Ming Wok in Kanowit, Sarawak.
