Chongqing:Chongqing is accelerating its efforts to emerge as a prominent international consumption center, attracting global visitors with its distinctive landscape, industrial strength, and welcoming retail environment.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the city's total retail sales of consumer goods reached 1.67 trillion Chinese yuan in 2025, making it the top-ranking city in China for retail sales. Chongqing attracts over 500 million visitors annually.

Chongqing has been at the forefront of China's night-economy rankings for four consecutive years. The city's robust manufacturing sector, which includes industries such as new-energy vehicles, motorcycles, and laptops, continues to drive consumer market growth.

More than 2,800 domestic and international brands, along with over 2,000 first stores, have established operations in Chongqing. This includes 325 Fortune Global 500 companies that have chosen the city as their initial entry point into western China.

The fusion of commerce, culture, and tourism in Chongqing continues to draw international travelers. Popular attractions include Yangtze River cruises, low-altitude sightseeing, and hot-spring wellness experiences. Additionally, 17 national-level premium tourism routes have been promoted worldwide.

Chongqing engages in trade with 228 countries and regions, facilitated by the China-Europe Railway Express and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. Enhanced visa, payment, and tax-refund services further simplify travel for international visitors.

In the past five years, Chongqing has upgraded 30 core commercial districts and developed 100 new consumption scenes along riverbanks, cliffs, and rooftop terraces, creating unique visitor experiences from everyday urban spaces.

The Liberation Monument is recognized as one of China's premier commercial districts for inbound consumption, highlighting Chongqing's ability to transform its heritage into enjoyable experiences for visitors.
