Chinese New Year: Johor Police To Intensify Monitoring Of Hotspots, Blackspots

Johor: Johor police will step up surveillance at the 47 hotspots (congestion-prone areas) and 38 blackspots (accident-prone areas) they have identified statewide throughout the Ops Selamat 25 campaign in conjunction with the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad stated that a total of 1,801 personnel will be deployed for the operation, including 676 personnel from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT). He highlighted that the focus will be on key routes, including the Sultan Iskandar Building and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex, as part of the intensified monitoring efforts.

The operation, which will run from tomorrow until February 20, will target six main road violations, such as driving on the emergency lane, speeding, and overtaking dangerously. Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad also anticipated a 30 to 40 percent increase in the number of vehicles entering the city due to school and festive holidays.

He further advised residents planning to leave their homes during the CNY period to notify the police using the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) application or by contacting the nearest police station.
