Chinese New Year Celebrations Reflect Malaysia’s Spirit Of Togetherness

Kuala lumpur: Celebrated by diverse communities nationwide, Chinese New Year highlights Malaysia's long-standing spirit of unity, harmony, and togetherness. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he once again attended the Chinese New Year Open House organised by the MCA at Wisma MCA here. Also present was Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, traditional dishes, cultural performances, and the camaraderie of friends from diverse backgrounds truly reflect Malaysia's multicultural identity, while sharing the same respect, joy, and sense of togetherness, Zahid stated in a Facebook post today.

Meanwhile, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri highlighted that visiting friends' homes on the first day of Chinese New Year is not simply about accepting invitations, but also a way to show appreciation for friendships and to maintain long-standing bonds. She emphasized that these visits are about more than just the food and festivities; they are an opportunity to sit together, catch up, share stories, and strengthen connections.

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming remarked that the country's cultural diversity is a source of strength, fostering a spirit of togetherness among ministry staff and the wider community during the festive season. He also distributed 1,000 boxes of mandarin oranges to ministry staff as a gesture of appreciation.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali encouraged the public to draw inspiration from the Year of the Fire Horse, with the horse symbolising agility and courage, and fire representing a burning spirit to drive efficiency and enthusiasm in both work culture and national development. He urged everyone to safeguard and nurture peace, prosperity, and unity.

Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad expressed that Chinese New Year is not merely a celebration, but also an opportunity to strengthen community ties and cultivate a spirit of togetherness. She described it as a bridge that brings people closer together and provides an opportunity to nurture unity.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek expressed hope that the spirit of togetherness would continue to flourish during and beyond the festive season.
