Chinese Community Integral to Sabah’s Progress, Says Hajiji

Kota kinabalu: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has called on the Chinese community in the state to become a strategic development partner and help build a progressive Sabah. In a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office today, Hajiji urged the Chinese community to continue strengthening cooperation with the state government in developing Sabah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hajiji emphasized the state government's aspiration to further empower the Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 (SMJ 2.0) initiative. This initiative is aimed at driving economic growth, human capital development, and the well-being of the people. He highlighted that through SMJ 2.0, the state aims to ensure that progress is inclusive, and prosperity is enjoyed by all, regardless of race or background, underscoring the importance of unity for the state's stability and prosperity.

Hajiji also reflected on the significance of the Chinese New Year, which embodies values such as family, unity, and new hope. These values are not only reflective of the rich cultural heritage of the Chinese community but also serve as a platform to strengthen harmony and togetherness among Sabah's multiracial population.

He noted that the Year of the Fire Horse in 2026 symbolizes energy, courage, and innovation, inspiring continued progress with structured planning and cooperation for Sabah's sustainable and balanced development. Hajiji extended his wishes for a Happy Chinese New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai, to the Chinese community in Sabah and throughout the country.
