China’s Railway Manufacturer Praises Malaysia’s Welding Industry

Kuala lumpur: China’s railway products manufacturer has praised the high standards of Malaysia’s welding industry, saying that the level of expertise eliminates the need for the company to deploy its own technical team when exporting its rails to Malaysia. Deputy station chief of rail and beam plant Pangang Group Steel Vanadium and Titanium Co Ltd, LV Panfeng, highlighted the consistent exports of rails to Malaysia over the past decade.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Panfeng emphasized that usually a technical team accompanies exports to other countries, but Malaysia’s proficient welding industry makes this unnecessary. He shared these insights during a recent visit by Asia Pacific journalists to Pangang Group. The company, recognized as the world’s largest vanadium producer, merged with Ansteel Group Corp Ltd in 2010.

Malaysia is prominently featured as part of Pangang Group’s international business network, as shown on a map at the group’s plant. Panfeng also mentioned that Pangang Group is actively involved in significant projects across Asia, including the China-Laos railway and Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train, all under the Belt and Road Initiative. Another notable project includes Sri Lanka’s rail system.

Pangang Group is eager to explore further collaboration opportunities within ASEAN and other Asian countries to enhance its international presence. The plant’s Panzhihua Brand Rails are integral to China’s high-speed and heavy-haul railways, even in challenging environments like the Qinghai-Tibet Railway.

The plant manufactures a comprehensive range of rail products, such as those for high-speed rail, heavy haul applications, switches, and crane rails, exporting these to 38 countries globally.
