Chief Secretary Outlines Four Priorities To Strengthen Public Service Delivery

Kuala lumpur: The emphasis on integrity-based values and governance, as well as the swift and high-impact implementation of programmes, are among four main priorities outlined to strengthen public service delivery. Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said the other two key focus areas are the digitalisation of public services and the strengthening of communication at all levels.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Shamsul Azri highlighted that the first focus is on values and governance, particularly issues related to integrity. The second priority aligns with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's call for swift execution and impactful results in program implementation.

Shamsul Azri elaborated on these priorities during a media conference following the 2026 Retreat of Ministry Secretaries-General and Heads of Service (KSUKP). The outcomes of this retreat, he stated, would be presented to the Cabinet, especially concerning necessary measures within the public service.

Also present at the retreat were Public Service director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz and Treasury secretary-general Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican. Shamsul Azri affirmed the civil servants' commitment to providing the best possible service to the people.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister, who attended the retreat, stressed the need for a whole-of-government approach, rejecting a silo-based working culture. He expressed confidence in civil servants' dedication to realizing the aspirations of the people.

Shamsul Azri also conveyed the Prime Minister's emphasis on unity, urging the public service to focus on the well-being of the people and avoid narrow racial issues.
