Tanjung sepat: The Central Brigade of the General Operations Force (GOF) arrested two individuals and seized 89 kilogrammes of methamphetamine valued at RM4.4 million during a raid at the Paip Besar beachfront near here two days ago. Central Brigade GOF commander SAC Hakemal Hawari stated that the two foreign men, believed to be in their 30s, were detained at approximately 11.30 am while allegedly awaiting a boat used by illegal immigrants to exit the country.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the suspects were found hiding behind bushes, and investigations are ongoing to determine whether they intended to use the country as a transit point or if the drugs were processed locally. A mobile phone, suspected to have been used as a communication device for smuggling activities, was also confiscated from the pair.
The suspects have been handed over to the Kuala Langat District Police's Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department and the Immigration Department for investigation under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the Immigration Act 1959/63. Meanwhile, it was reported that a total of 179 raids had been conducted in areas under the Central Brigade, resulting in the arrest of 611 individuals for various offences, with total seizures amounting to RM254 million.
