Car Driven By Cannabis-Positive Driver Allegedly Kills Motorcyclist

Kuala pilah: A motorcyclist was killed after being struck by a car driven by a man who tested positive for cannabis at KM 23 Jalan Seremban-Kuala Pilah yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kuala Pilah district police chief Supt Muhamad Mustafah Hussin stated that the incident occurred at 11.10 pm. The victim, a 28-year-old restaurant assistant riding a Honda motorcycle, was confirmed dead at the scene.

Initial investigations revealed that the accident happened when a Perodua Viva, driven by a 23-year-old man traveling from Seremban towards Felda Keratong, allegedly lost control and veered into the opposite lane. The motorcyclist, on his way home to Senawang, could not avoid the car before being hit.

The car driver sustained minor injuries. A subsequent urine test indicated he was positive for cannabis. He has been detained to assist in investigations under Section 44 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
