Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that a Cabinet reshuffle is not currently under consideration, as two ministers remain on leave. He clarified that Minister of Economy Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who have expressed their intention to resign, cannot be replaced while on leave.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar addressed the situation following a monthly assembly with the staff of the Prime Minister’s Department. He emphasized that the ministers are still on leave, which prevents any immediate replacement in the Cabinet.
Rafizi and Nik Nazmi announced their resignations, effective June 17 and July 4 respectively, after failing to secure their positions in the 2025 Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) party polls. Rafizi lost his role as Deputy President, while Nik Nazmi did not retain his position as Vice President.
The Prime Minister’s Office released a statement confirming that Anwar received letters from both ministers requesting leave and resigning from their Cabinet posts. The statement also noted that Anwar has approved their leave and any further decisions will be communicated by him in due course.
