Kuala Lumpur:The Cabinet has agreed to amend the guidelines for managing abandoned vehicles, aiming to expedite their removal and disposal. This decision follows complaints about delays and poor coordination among enforcement agencies.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil stated that the proposed amendments were introduced by the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) and the Transport Ministry (MoT). These changes come in response to feedback and complaints regarding the current lengthy procedures.
The current process, as explained by Fahmi, often takes too long and requires improved coordination among the involved agencies. The proposed amendments will be implemented by KPKT and MoT to address these issues.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming indicated that KPKT is reviewing the need to strengthen existing legal provisions. This review aims to clarify the authorities' jurisdictions and expedite enforcement and disposal procedures without infringing on vehicle owners' rights.
