Bush Fire in Daro, Mukah Affects 10 Hectares: JBPM

Daro: A bush fire in Kampung Penasu, Daro, Mukah, has affected an area of about 10 hectares, the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said in a statement today. The fire, which has been exacerbated by hot and windy weather, has rapidly spread across the region.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the operations centre received an emergency call at 9.53 pm yesterday, and firefighters arrived at the scene at 1.11 am today after travelling about 100 kilometres. By noon, the fire had spread to cover 10 hectares. Firefighting efforts are underway, involving the use of a 1,200-foot hose line with a portable pump, drawing water from a nearby drain to contain the blaze.

Meanwhile, in Kuala Tatau-Serupai in Tatau, Bintulu, a separate fire has affected about 400 hectares, with around 100 hectares extinguished yesterday. This fire has now entered its sixth day.

In Sibu, another bush fire covering approximately 16 hectares was reported along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman yesterday morning. Firefighters are continuing their efforts to manage and extinguish the fires in all affected areas.
