Bursa Malaysia Shows Slight Increase in Mid-afternoon Trading

Kuala lumpur: Bursa Malaysia stayed marginally higher at mid-afternoon due to buying activities in selected heavyweights led by the consumer products and services, utilities, and construction sectors. At 3.01 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) edged up 0.13 of a point to 1,727.84 from yesterday's close of 1,727.71. The benchmark index opened 5.17 points higher at 1,732.88.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, on the broader market, decliners led gainers 606 to 471. A total of 534 counters were unchanged, 1,093 were untraded, and 12 were suspended. Turnover stood at 2.21 billion units valued at RM1.73 billion.

Among heavyweights, 99 Speed Mart Retail increased by 15 sen to RM3.43, YTL Power International rose eight sen to RM4.13, Gamuda climbed nine sen to RM4.48, Public Bank decreased by four sen to RM4.79, and Axiata fell seven sen to RM2.13.

On the most active list, Oppstar rose nine sen to RM1.02, TT Vision gained five sen to 39 sen, GIIB increased by one sen to 31.5 sen, SMRT advanced 2.5 sen to 24 sen, while Zetrix AI decreased by half a sen to 83.5 sen.

Top gainers included Sunway Construction, which was up 21 sen to RM7.31, Westports improved 18 sen to RM6.16, Plenitude strengthened 11 sen to RM1.73, and both TMK Chemical and Ranhill Utilities gained 10 sen each to RM1.86 and RM2.19, respectively.

As for the top losers, Hong Leong Industries decreased by 56 sen to RM17.92, Kuala Lumpur Kepong fell 44 sen to RM19.76, Nestle dropped 38 sen to RM95.02, UMS Integration shed 36 sen to RM8.04, and Petronas Dagangan declined 34 sen to RM19.20.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index increased by 3.02 points to 12,807.79, the FBM Top 100 Index inched down 0.02 of a point to 12,642.72, the FBM Emas Shariah Index gained 0.01 of a point to 12,749.08, the FBM Mid 70 Index narrowed by 4.20 points to 18,373.31, while the FBM ACE Index expanded by 4.39 points to 4,724.44.

In terms of sector indices, the Financial Services Index declined 53.77 points to 20,064.63, the Energy Index edged down 6.44 points to 800.63, the Industrial Products and Services Index went up 0.07 of a point to 199.73, and the Plantation Index fell 45.63 points to 8,562.29.
