Bursa Malaysia Projects Significant IPO Activity in Second Half of 2026

Kuala lumpur: Bursa Malaysia Bhd anticipates one or two large initial public offerings (IPOs) in the second half of 2026, following an upward revision of its annual IPO market capitalisation target to RM34 billion. This revision is supported by a robust listing pipeline.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chief Executive Officer Datuk Fad'l Mohamed highlighted that the updated target reflects the strong visibility from the exchange's IPO pipeline, which includes listings on both the Main Market and ACE Market. During a financial results briefing for the first half of 2026, Fad'l expressed confidence in achieving one or two large IPOs in the latter half of the year.

The exchange had recently increased its IPO market capitalisation target from RM28 billion, having already surpassed the full-year 2025 total. Fad'l noted that the upward revision is supported by already received submissions and a promising pipeline.

He elaborated that the revision is backed by significant issuer interest across various sectors such as healthcare, consumer, and technology. This is complemented by healthy investor demand from both retail and institutional investors, showcasing the resilience of Malaysia's capital market.

Fad'l also remarked on the continued strong interest from technology companies, driven by growing investor appetite for artificial intelligence and technology-related investments. He described the current period as a "tech supercycle," with enduring demand for technology and AI-related companies.

Earlier, Bursa Malaysia reported its financial performance for the first half of 2026, ending June 30, with net profit rising to RM144.60 million from RM125.48 million, and revenue increasing to RM425.04 million from RM356.95 million.

In the second quarter of the financial year ending December 31, 2026, the stock exchange operator recorded a higher net profit of RM71.77 million compared to RM57.06 million in the same period the previous year, with revenue climbing to RM210.97 million from RM172.58 million.

By the end of June 2026, Bursa Malaysia had 36 listings that raised RM5.4 billion, highlighting the sustained momentum in the domestic IPO market.
