Bursa Malaysia Drops Below 1,700 Mark Amid Global Tensions

Bursa malaysia: Bursa Malaysia saw a downturn on Friday, closing below the significant 1,700 psychological threshold. Analysts pointed to ongoing geopolitical developments as a key driver of market sentiment.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell by 12.16 points, or 0.71 percent, ending the day at 1,698.85. This marked a decrease from the previous day's close of 1,711.01. The market opened 9.07 points lower at 1,701.94 and fluctuated throughout the day, reaching a low of 1,696.04 and a high of 1,709.05.

Market breadth was negative, with 627 decliners surpassing 440 gainers. Additionally, 541 counters remained unchanged, and there were 1,081 untraded and 18 suspended counters. Turnover saw a decline, with 2.87 billion units valued at RM3.45 billion, compared to Thursday's 3.01 billion units worth RM3.53 billion.
