Bursa malaysia: Bursa Malaysia Bhd has been recognised as one of the top 50 ASEAN Public Listed Companies (PLCs) and among the top five PLCs in Malaysia at the ASEAN Corporate Governance Awards held last night.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bursa Malaysia’s chief executive officer, Datuk Fad’l Mohamed, stated that the recognition reflects the exchange’s leadership and commitment to upholding standards of governance, transparency, and accountability. He emphasized that strong corporate governance is fundamental to a resilient and trusted capital market. Bursa Malaysia is dedicated to promoting governance excellence within the exchange and its ecosystem to foster investor confidence and sustainable economic growth.
The ASEAN Corporate Governance Awards, hosted by Malaysia’s domestic ranking body, the Minority Shareholders Watch Group, recognize ASEAN PLCs that demonstrate governance excellence based on the 2024 ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) Regional Assessment. The event was officiated by the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
The ACGS, developed in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank, is a regional initiative conducted biennially under the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum. It aims to assess, enhance, and promote corporate governance among PLCs across six participating ASEAN countries. The initiative recognizes top-performing PLCs with governance frameworks and practices aligned with international standards, focusing on transparency, accountability, and board effectiveness, while contributing to the ASEAN region’s growth and attractiveness to investors.
