SUNGAI BULOH: A team of volunteers from the Sungai Buloh Parliamentary Service Centre has mobilized to support residents of Taman Seri Alam, Saujana Utama, after a water retention pond bund collapsed, leading to flash floods that affected more than 50 houses.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sungai Buloh Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, prioritized immediate assistance to those impacted by the disaster. A volunteer team was dispatched to assess the situation and deliver aid directly to the affected area.
Ramanan affirmed the commitment of the Sungai Buloh Parliamentary Service Centre to the residents’ welfare, emphasizing collaboration with community leaders and relevant agencies to implement preventive measures against future incidents. He communicated this through a Facebook post, expressing hope for a smooth resolution of all issues related to the flood.
Gratitude was extended by Ramanan towards the swift response of rescue teams, including the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and other government agencies, for their efforts in mitigating the effects of the flood on the community.
The incident was first reported to the Selangor JBPM at 5.15 pm, as stated by Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar, the assistant director (Operations). The bund’s failure led to water inundating the residential area, causing widespread disruption but fortunately resulting in no injuries or fatalities.
