Bukit Aman Takes Over Probe Into Viral Video Involving MACC Chief

Kuala lumpur: The Bukit Aman Classified Criminal Investigation Unit (USJT) has taken over the investigation into a viral video clip containing allegations against Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki. Kuala Lumpur Police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus announced that the probe is being conducted under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the investigation has now been transferred to USJT to ensure a comprehensive examination of the issues raised in the video. Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed this development during a press conference, emphasizing the commitment to a thorough investigation process.

The controversy began when an MACC officer filed a police report last Thursday at the Putrajaya Police headquarters. The report was prompted by a video showing a conversation between a woman and businessman Albert Tei, which included allegations against the MACC Chief Commissioner, Azam.

In a separate matter, Datuk Fadil Marsus also provided updates on the investigation involving an MACC Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) detained for drug abuse in September. The investigation papers, now complete following receipt of the pathology report from the Chemistry Department, have been submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) for further instructions.
