Kuala lumpur: Police have confirmed that they are looking into the alleged leaked minutes of a Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) meeting that went viral on social media after a police report was lodged regarding the matter. Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail stated that the investigation is being handled by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Classified Crimes Investigation Unit.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the case is classified under Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act, Section 203A of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. The focus of the investigation will be on the disclosure and dissemination of information internally and on social media. Mohd Khalid emphasized that all competent witnesses would be called to assist in the investigations.
Mohd Khalid also advised the public against disclosing any classified documents or information, warning that those involved could face severe consequences. The alleged leaked minutes are said to be from a JAC meeting that took place in May and are believed to have first appeared on Reddit before going viral on Facebook and X yesterday.
