Kuala lumpur: The implementation of the BUDI MADANI RON95 programme (BUDI95) demonstrates the government’s commitment to curbing billions of Ringgit in subsidy leakages each year, says Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming. He stated that the introduction of BUDI95 ensures that subsidies are exclusively for Malaysian citizens and addresses the loophole that had previously allowed foreigners, who do not contribute taxes, to benefit.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nga emphasized that with BUDI95, government subsidies are now accurately and fairly channelled specifically for Malaysian citizens. This move, he noted, exemplifies the government’s effort to safeguard the people’s welfare while maintaining fiscal discipline. Nga highlighted that the essence of Malaysia MADANI is to ensure inclusivity and that every sen spent benefits the people.
Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a reduction in the price of RON95 petrol to RM1.99 per litre from RM2.05 per litre, effective September 30, as part of the BUDI95 programme’s targeted subsidies. The initiative is expected to benefit over 16 million Malaysians, based on data from the Road Transport Department and the National Registration Department.
