BUDI95 Programme Benefits Over 14.6 Million Malaysians With Subsidised Petrol Prices

Kuala lumpur: More than 14.6 million Malaysians have benefited from subsidised RON95 petrol prices under the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) programme as of February 11, 2026, announced Minister of Finance II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the BUDI95 system processes an average of 3.1 million transactions per day without disruption. Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah stated that through BUDI95, the public can access RON95 at RM1.99 per litre directly at the pump, without needing new registration or complex procedures. The MyKad serves as an effective mechanism for verifying eligibility for targeted subsidies.

During the Ministers' Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat, Amir Hamzah responded to a query from Jimmy Puah Wee Tse (PH-Tebrau) regarding fiscal reforms. These reforms include the successful implementation of BUDI95, which was launched in October 2025, and inquiries about the government's future plans to apply similar targeting mechanisms to other goods, such as cooking oil and sugar.

Amir Hamzah mentioned that using identity-based verification aids in reducing leakage of benefits to non-citizens. The government is exploring the use of MyKad for the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme (COSS) through the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).

He further noted that a study is being conducted to expand the MyKad-based ecosystem. This expansion includes integration with the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) system to enhance identity verification for monitoring the sale of subsidised cooking oil.
