BUDI95 Initiative Benefits Over 13 Million Malaysians

Kuala lumpur: More than 13.1 million people, or nearly 80 percent of the 16.5 million eligible Malaysians, have benefited from the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) initiative implemented in September, with sales reaching RM2.66 billion or 1.33 billion liters up to Oct 31. Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying highlighted the smooth implementation of BUDI95 during the first month, noting the system’s efficient operation and the absence of long queues at petrol stations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Lim stated that the government is committed to making continuous improvements to ensure the RON95 subsidy system is implemented in a comprehensive, inclusive, and effective manner. The government has expanded the subsidy eligibility to include river boat operators and provided additional quotas for e-hailing drivers. This approach aims to ensure no group is excluded from the subsidy benefits, maintaining the main objective of accurately channeling assistance to those in need.

Lim addressed questions from Chong Zhemin (PH-Kampar) in the Dewan Rakyat regarding the targeted RON95 petrol subsidy implementation and the measures taken by the government to ensure that only the low to middle-income groups benefit from the initiative.
