MUAR: A three-year-old boy died after the car he was travelling in was hit by a trailer at KM148.1 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) southbound, near Bukit Gambir, yesterday. Muar district police chief ACP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz stated that the accident, which occurred at about 2.40 pm, resulted from the trailer driver experiencing microsleep.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, seven family members who were travelling with the boy sustained injuries and were transported to Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah (HPSF) for treatment. The investigation revealed that the trailer went out of control, collided with the highway divider, and subsequently rammed into the car that was travelling in the same direction.
The police report confirmed that the boy succumbed to serious injuries at the scene of the crash. The trailer’s driver, who suffered minor injuries, has been taken into custody and is set to be remanded for further investigation.
