Labuan: The Borneo Flora Festival (BFF) has become a focal point for both local residents and international visitors, marking its commencement with a vibrant celebration today. The festival has successfully drawn people from within Labuan and beyond, showcasing a diverse array of floral displays at the International Sea Sports Complex.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, among the attendees was Siti Norlila Rahim, a 38-year-old visitor from Brunei Darussalam, who made the journey with her family to witness the floral spectacle. Arriving by ferry from Brunei to Labuan the previous day, Siti was eager to explore the festival’s offerings and visit relatives residing on the island. She expressed particular interest in the booths featuring Brunei’s participation in the event.
Jinus Yoson, aged 51 and hailing from Tambunan, also made his way to Labuan two days prior to the festival’s start. He was motivated by the unique opportunity to experience the BFF, held for the first time, and was impressed by the arrangement and decorations of the floral displays. Jinus noted the significance of the event, emphasizing that even Labuan residents were in attendance, making it an unmissable occasion for those from outside the island. Additionally, Jinus took the opportunity to visit his child working in Labuan.
Nur Hayanti Asri, an 18-year-old from Kuala Penyu, expressed her enthusiasm for attending the festival for the first time. Her excitement was partly driven by the chance to capture memorable photos with the floral arrangements, which she intended to share on Instagram. Nur Hayanti learned about the BFF through social media promotions, highlighting the festival’s outreach efforts to engage younger audiences.
