Body Of Myanmar Crew Member Who Fell Into Saratok River Found In Incomplete State

Saratok: The body of a Myanmar crew member who fell into Sungai Krian last Friday has been discovered at Lubuk Petan, Kampung Kupang, here. The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre confirmed that the body of Thu Htoo Aung, 20, was found in an incomplete state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the JBPM Operations Centre released a statement indicating that the operation team, led by Nasir Drahman, received information from villagers at 12.23 pm today about a floating body in the Lubuk Petan river. Firemen and police personnel subsequently retrieved the body and brought it to a nearby jetty for identification.

The police confirmed that the remains belonged to the missing crew member, Thu Htoo Aung. The statement noted that only the lower half of the body, from the waist to the feet, was recovered, which is believed to have been due to bites from aquatic animals. The search and rescue operation officially concluded at 1.40 pm.

The victim, identified by his clothing as wearing brown trousers and short rubber boots, reportedly fell into the river from the vessel Moi Soon 2, which was docked at Wharf Batu Pekan, Saratok, on August 8, at approximately 9.30 am.
