Kota bharu: The body of an unidentified man with incised wounds to the neck was discovered floating in Sungai Kelantan near the Sultan Yahya Petra Bridge. The grim discovery was made yesterday, prompting immediate action from local authorities.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kota Bharu police chief ACP Mohd Rosdi Daud disclosed in a statement that police were alerted by a call from MERS 999 at 6.30 pm. In response, a team from the Kelantan Contingent Police Headquarters, along with the forensic unit, was dispatched to the scene to investigate the matter further.
The victim was reportedly wearing a purple collared T-shirt and brown khaki shorts with a belt when found. ACP Mohd Rosdi Daud noted that the body was already swollen at the time of discovery. A post-mortem performed at the Forensic Department of Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital at 12.15 am confirmed that the cause of death was the neck wound.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been determined, as police are currently awaiting fingerprint and DNA reports for identification purposes. The case is being treated as a murder investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
