Kota kinabalu: Barisan Nasional (BN) will adopt the slogan ‘Bikin Balik Sabah’ (Rebuild Sabah) for the 17th Sabah State Election to inspire the party machinery and voters to ensure change and development for the state. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid emphasized that “Sabah is always for Sabahans,” with aspirations for the slogan ‘Bikin Balik Sabah’ to be realized in a transformative manner. He expressed the desire for the upcoming election to be a game changer that introduces significant changes for the people of Sabah. The focus will be on reigniting Sabah’s economy to ensure benefits intended for Sabahans do not end up with cronies. These remarks were made during the launch of the BN machinery for the Sabah polls.
The event was attended by prominent figures including BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan; Sabah BN chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin; BN vice-chairman MCA Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong, who is also the MCA president; BN vice-president Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, who is also the Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) president; BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir; and BN treasurer-general Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.
Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as the Deputy Prime Minister, highlighted BN’s commitment to improving unity in Sabah and preventing power struggles that could undermine harmony. He called for a mature government that prioritizes integrity and guides the people, ensuring they are not exploited for political gains. He reassured the people that their future and unity are of utmost importance.
The UMNO president also stressed the importance of political stability under the slogan, as it is crucial for Sabah’s progression and prosperity. He pointed out that the 17th state election is not a mere display of logos, as seen in previous polls with 14 political parties contesting, but a chance for the electorate to choose a government capable of resolving their issues swiftly.
Ahmad Zahid identified immediate concerns like the supply of clean water and electricity and poverty eradication that need to be addressed. He remarked that the people of Sabah have a longing for Barisan Nasional and that it is the party’s responsibility to provide exemplary service through BN state assemblymen if victorious.
Lastly, Ahmad Zahid clarified that neither the party nor UMNO plans to field candidates from the Peninsula in the Sabah polls on November 29, affirming that all candidates will be locals.
