BN Prioritizes People’s Issues Over Political Attacks in Johor State Election

Johor bahru: Barisan Nasional (BN) will focus on presenting its agenda and policies to the people rather than attacking its political opponents during the Johor state election campaign, BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that party machinery at all levels had been reminded of this approach.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid stated, "We are not taking the approach of attacking anyone or any political party. I have instructed the party machinery at the national, Johor, and other state levels facing elections to adopt a different approach." He highlighted BN's commitment to addressing issues affecting the people and offering a better agenda for them, stating, "As much as possible, we do not want to attack any party. If we are attacked, we will respond, but we will not initiate attacks against anyone."

Ahmad Zahid made these remarks after attending the 'Haul Asmaulhusna 2026 Zikir' programme at Sultan Iskandar Mosque in Bandar Dato' Onn. Also present at the event were Johor BN chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

In a related development, Ahmad Zahid mentioned that BN's candidate list for the Johor state election is in the final stages of being finalized and is expected to be announced about a week before nomination day. The Election Commission (EC) has set July 11 as polling day for the 16th Johor state election, with nomination day on June 27 and early voting on July 7.
