Kuala Lampur:The British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC) has recognized 23 outstanding nominees at the 7th BMCC Business Excellence Awards for their exemplary contributions to the UK-Malaysia business landscape.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the awards this year received 49 submissions across seven categories, highlighting achievements in business growth, strategic partnerships, talent, environment, social and governance (ESG), technology and innovation, K12 education, and small and medium enterprise (SME) development.

AstraZeneca Sdn Bhd was awarded the UK-Malaysia Business of the Year for its significant investment of over RM600 million in the past five years, establishing Malaysia as a regional hub for clinical research and healthcare innovation. The company has also created over 1,000 jobs and emerged as Malaysia's leading pharmaceutical company.

Universiti Malaya and Pearson were recognized with the UK-Malaysia Partnership of the Year award for their collaboration through the PTE x Universiti Malaya Scholarship Programme.

BMCC chair Nik Tasha Nik Kamaruddin emphasized the importance of UK-Malaysia collaboration, noting the value created for businesses and the wider economy. She praised the winners for their ambition, innovation, and resilience.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Negeri Sembilan Tunku Besar of Seri Menanti, Tunku Datuk Seri Ali Redhauddin Ibni Tuanku Muhriz, Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Steven Sim Chee Keong, British High Commissioner to Malaysia Ajay Sharma, and BMCC Co-Patron Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah.

Among other notable awards, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) received the ESG Excellence Award for its sustainability efforts, PwC Malaysia was recognized with the Talent Excellence Award, and YTL Group was honored with the Technology and Innovation Excellence Award. Nexus International School Malaysia received the K12 Excellence Award, and the SME Excellence Award was given to London School of Business and Finance (LSBF) College.
