Bintulu Port Holdings Pays Tribute To Media For Highlighting Achievements

Kuala Lumpur: Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) paid tribute to the media, which had been giving their unwavering support and cooperation in promoting its initiatives and highlighting its achievements throughout last year. BPHB Group chairman Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the media had been showing collaborative spirit and willingness to go the extra mile to bring their message to life, while their creativity in storytelling and ability to capture the essence of BPHB’s work was commendable. “We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated media community by our side,” he said at a Media Appreciation Night organised by BPHB on Sunday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, last year, BPHB, the operator of Bintulu Port that had come under Sarawak’s regulatory control since then, scored success, built on a solid foundation and guided by the Sarawak government support. One of the notable achievements was the establishment of Bintulu Car Terminal, which further solidified Bintulu Port as a leading roll-on, roll-off (Ro-Ro) transhipment hub. Another key development was the establishment of Borneo Oil and Gas Sdn Bhd supply base.

Mohamad Abu Bakar, who is also Sarawak State Secretary, highlighted another achievement BPHB made last year was pioneering the deployment of autonomous nested drones for advanced surveillance in Malaysia, setting a new benchmark in technological innovation. The port operator also achieved several prestigious awards, including the BrandLaureate Best Brands Award 2024 for Brand of the Year in the Port and Maritime Services category and the Platinum Award for Large Enterprise at the Bintulu Sustainability Awards (BiSA) 2024.

Additionally, Mohamad Abu Bakar noted their recognition for the Green Terminal Label Certification (GTLC), awarded by Bureau Veritas in September 2024, underscoring their commitment to environmental stewardship. At the media appreciation night, BPHB presented appreciation awards to several media organisations for their professionalism and contributions to highlight the port’s milestones and achievements. Among them were Bernama, which received the Outstanding News Coverage Award; Suara Sarawak, Sin Chiew Daily, and Utusan Borneo for Excellence in Journalism; RTM and TVS for Best Television News Segment; Bintulu News for Best Social Media Coverage; and The Borneo Post and Utusan Sarawak for Most Engaging Content.

Meanwhile, the Sarawak Protocol, Ceremony and Event Management Unit (UPPAN), Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), and the Information Department were awarded as Bintulu Port’s Strategic Partner of the Year.
