Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) has introduced a state-of-the-art motorhome equipped with mini-studio facilities, marking a significant advancement in the agency’s service delivery and content production capabilities, as announced by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. The vehicle is designed not only as a mobile news unit but also with the potential to be transformed into a mobile podcast recording studio, offering a versatile solution for content creation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the motorhome is part of Bernama’s initiatives under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) aimed at enhancing external coverage operations and flexible news production. This innovation is seen as a game changer for Bernama, providing a mobile base for field coverage and enhancing production capabilities. Minister Fahmi expressed hopes that the motorhome could be showcased during this year’s National Day celebrations in Putrajaya, illustrating its potential to the public.
During a recent event at Wisma Bernama, Fahmi had the opportunity to inspect the vehicle firsthand, which is fully equipped with studio equipment. The unveiling was attended by notable figures including Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, Bernama chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, and Bernama editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj.
The motorhome, received by Bernama on April 14, serves as a new broadcasting medium for live news content from various locations, including Bernama TV and Bernama Radio programs, as well as major events. It boasts capabilities for live broadcasts with multi-camera production, allowing operations in critical areas lacking electricity, such as disaster zones and remote locations.
Equipped with six cameras and modern editing tools, the motorhome ensures the production of high-quality content, benefiting both clients and enhancing live news reporting for Bernama’s social media and broadcast platforms. The vehicle, valued at RM1.2 million, can accommodate six staff members and includes a mini studio space, workspace, toilet facilities, and a dining area. It is further enhanced with a 5G internet network and Starlink access, ensuring connectivity even in challenging environments.
