Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) has been recognized for its pivotal role in promoting development agendas and empowering women across more than 100 women-related sectors around the globe.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Hartini Osman, President of Women Economic Forum (WEF) ASEAN 2025, acknowledged Bernama’s contribution as Malaysia’s sole official news agency during the WEF ASEAN 2025 event held last June. The agency’s coverage played a significant role in the adoption of 27 resolutions aimed at advancing women’s aspirations regionally and globally.
Dr Hartini noted that Bernama provided essential support by promoting the forum on its platforms, conducting interviews with participants, leaders, and panellists from 32 countries. The three-day forum successfully adopted resolutions focusing on women empowerment, education, information technology, cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, and motivation, all extensively covered by Bernama.
In a recent courtesy call at Wisma Bernama, Dr Hartini expressed her gratitude towards Bernama’s chief executive officer, Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin. The visit also included Bernama’s acting deputy-in-chief (News Service), Mohd Shukri Ishak, and other top management members.
Looking towards the future, Dr Hartini unveiled plans for the WEF Global Meet next year, hoping for Bernama’s continued partnership. She highlighted the expected participation of many global attendees, with the aim to expand WEF’s membership from the current 250,000 to one million within the year.
Nur-ul Afida emphasized WEF’s role in amplifying women’s voices across various fields internationally and saw it as an opportunity for Bernama to disseminate these initiatives. As Malaysia’s sole news agency, Bernama is committed to supporting and collaborating with organizations focused on empowering women in science, communication, and other areas through its various platforms.
During the courtesy call, Dr Hartini presented Nur-ul Afida with the ‘Women of the Decade’ Award and certificate, acknowledging her leadership and commitment to advancing the media industry.
