KANGAR: The Malaysian Nasional News Agency (Bernama), represented by three teams, is participating in the Federal Territory Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSWIP) 2024 championships taking place in Perlis from yesterday until tomorrow. The three teams are the netball, football, and volleyball teams.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bernama netball team manager Siti Balqish Rusli said the MAKSWIP 2024 championship marks the first participation for its netball and volleyball teams, and it can be considered as gaining valuable experience while also giving their best competition. “This is the first time that our netball team is competing in MAKSWIP, so our target is to qualify for the deciding match tomorrow. Even if we lose, it’s all right because the experience gained is more important,” she said when met at the Perlis Youth and Sports Department here today.
“Competing with teams from other government agencies is a new experience for us. Previously, our netball team won the championship tit
le during the HAWANA (National Journalists’ Day) 2024 in Kuala Lumpur,” Siti Balqish added. Today, their netball team is competing against a team from the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Federal Territory Audit Club (KAWIP), as well as the Sports and Welfare Club of the Ministry of Communications Malaysia (KESKOM).
She highlighted that the Bernama team, consisting of eight players including the manager, hopes to deliver their best performance throughout the tournament. In the meantime, the Bernama netball captain Natasha Aimee Hashim expressed her feelings, saying, “This is my first time coming to Perlis and representing Bernama in a netball tournament. Nervousness is present because we are playing against many other teams, but this is a valuable experience and I will do my best until the final tomorrow, Insya-Allah.”
