Bernama Honored with Best Media Agency Award at National Labour Day 2025

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) was awarded the Best Media (Agency) Award during the National Labour Day 2025 celebration at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil. The award was presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to Bernama’s chief executive officer, Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this award is one of the two new categories introduced by the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), alongside the Public Sector National Worker Icon Award (Senior Management). The Best Media (Agency) Award acknowledges the significant role played by media agencies in delivering accurate, timely, and reliable information across various news platforms.

Nur-ul Afida expressed that the award serves as a morale booster for all Bernama staff, encouraging them to continue their dedicated work in alignment with the agency’s motto – Trusted Source of News. She urged the Bernama team, especially journalists, photographers, and videographers, to adhere to the journalism code of ethics that has long guided the agency.

In her remarks, Nur-ul Afida noted the historic nature of the award, marking the first time Bernama has received such recognition in its 57-year history as Malaysia’s official news agency. She attributed the accolade to the collaborative efforts of the entire Bernama team, particularly the Editorial Department.

Nur-ul Afida also highlighted the Prime Minister’s emphasis on teamwork, a value deeply ingrained in Bernama’s work culture and instrumental in the successful execution of national-level assignments. Additionally, she mentioned that Bernama has been appointed as the Official Media and Coordinator of the International Media Centre for the ASEAN Summit 2025.

The event was attended by Bernama deputy editors-in-chief Nasriah Darus and Azlina Aziz, along with a contingent of 50 staff from various departments of the agency.
