Kuala lumpur: Berjaya Assets Bhd has appointed Tan Tee Ming, 49, the son-in-law of its major shareholder Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, as its new chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2026. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, it said Tee Ming, who holds an indirect interest of 1.09 million ordinary shares in Berjaya Assets, is also a brother-in-law of the company's executive director, Chryseis Tan Sheik Ling.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Berjaya Assets stated that Tee Ming has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from King's College London. He has garnered over 16 years of experience managing the wealth of high-net-worth individuals across various private banks in Malaysia and Singapore. Tee Ming's extensive background in financial management saw him appointed as the senior general manager of Berjaya Land Bhd's property sales and marketing division on March 18, 2017. He later became the executive director of Berjaya Land on April 1, 2022, a position he held until his resignation on December 31, 2025.
At the close of the trading day, Berjaya Assets remained steady at 30 sen, with 161,500 shares exchanged and a market capitalisation standing at RM767.48 million. In a related development, Berjaya Corporation Bhd announced in a separate Bursa Malaysia filing that its executive director, Norlela Baharudin, 62, has resigned to pursue her personal interests.
