Batu Pahat:A Proton e.MAS 5 Prime electric vehicle, valued at over RM50,000, is the grand prize in a lucky draw organized by the Batu Pahat Municipal Council (MPBP). This initiative is part of the 2026 'Yok Bayar dan Menang Cukai Harta' campaign, designed to reward property taxpayers for timely payments.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the campaign, which coincides with the council's 25th anniversary carnival, offers a total of 118 prizes worth RM100,000. These include two electric motorcycles, laptops, gold pendants, and grocery vouchers. The campaign is also aimed at encouraging more property owners to make tax payments online.

Mohd Nazid Jasiman, president of MPBP, noted that this is the first year the lucky draw includes an electric vehicle as the grand prize. He emphasized that participants must pay their taxes through e-billing or online and have no outstanding arrears to qualify. The initiative has led approximately 20% of taxpayers in the MPBP area to transition to online payments, with total tax collections reaching about RM50 million.

Mohd Nazid highlighted that of the roughly 83,000 taxpayers in the MPBP area, 17,000 have adopted online payment methods. He expressed hope that such campaigns would continue to promote timely tax payments and increase the use of digital services.

Grand prize winner Lim Yew Jiuan, who entered on behalf of her father, Lim Kim Choon, expressed surprise at winning the electric car through paying their property tax online. Similarly, electric motorcycle winner Md Harahap Shahran initially thought the notification of his win was a scam but was later thrilled to learn it was genuine.
