Kuala lumpur: Batik Air will strengthen its regional footprint with the launch of nine new routes on Dec 8, 2025, a landmark expansion that underscores the carrier’s ambition to enhance connectivity across Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Batik Air said the expansion includes new routes from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang (SZB) to Singapore, Jakarta, Langkawi and Johor Bahru.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this expansion also highlights Batik Air’s support for the government’s Subang Airport Regeneration Plan, contributing to its vision of positioning Subang as a vibrant regional hub. The airline stated that SZB is set to become a key hub in its operations.

At the same time, Penang will assume a more strategic role in Batik Air’s network with new services to Singapore, Medan, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu, positioning Penang International Airport (PEN) as a key connector linking the region with East Malaysia and neighbouring countries.

Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (IPH) in Ipoh will also be added to the airline’s network through new direct flights to Singapore, it said. It added that starting November 2025, all Lion Group airlines, including Batik Air, will operate from Changi Airport Terminal 4, offering improved facilities and smoother connections for passengers.

Batik Air chief executive officer Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy said the expansion reflects careful planning and a clear vision for regional aviation, with the airline’s strategy focusing on connecting secondary cities, strengthening its ASEAN presence and establishing travel corridors to promote tourism, trade and economic development.

Chandran added that the launch will open new opportunities for travelers, businesses, and communities alike, with the routes reflecting Batik Air’s strategic approach of connecting key domestic hubs with carefully selected international destinations that cater to Malaysian travelers.
