Kuala lumpur: Scheduled flights between Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta remained cancelled today following ongoing volcanic activity at Mount Anak Krakatau in Indonesia's Sunda Strait, between Java and Sumatra, said Batik Air.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the carrier stated that the decision was made after the latest operational assessment and continued coordination with the relevant aviation authorities and airport operators. The airline emphasized that the safety of passengers and crew remains a top priority in light of the volcanic ash affecting the flight paths.

'Affected passengers may request to reschedule their travel to the next available Batik Air flight, subject to availability, or request a refund,' the airline mentioned in a statement today. This move aims to accommodate passengers affected by the sudden cancellations and offer them flexibility in managing their travel plans.

Batik Air has cancelled eight scheduled flights between Malaysia and Jakarta today, namely OD398, OD399, OD346, OD347, OD388, OD389, OD390, and OD391. These cancellations include six services operating between Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Jakarta, as well as two services operating between Subang and Jakarta.

Batik Air, a Malaysian carrier, operates under Indonesia's Lion Air Group, and continues to monitor the situation closely to ensure passenger safety amid the ongoing volcanic activity.
